Partners Places Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Penn State
April 10, 2019 – Universities have been turning
to search firms in droves to fill their top coaching vacancies. Executive
recruitment firm Ventura Partners has tackled the latest
search, recruiting Carolyn Kieger as the sixth head coach of the women’s
basketball program at Penn State University. After 12 seasons, the program
elected to move on from coach Coquese Washington. Partner Chad Chatlos led the
nationwide search for Ventura Partners.
Ms. Kieger, a 2019 Naismith Women’s Coach of the
Year Award semifinalist, guided Marquette University to the top of the Big East
Conference and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as the Golden
Eagles’ head coach.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann announced on Monday that he has initiated a change in the leadership of the Men’s Basketball program, commencing a search to replace Head Coach Sydney Johnson. “I want to thank Coach Johnson for his commitment to Fairfield. Ventura is a notable presence in major-conference searches for ADs and head coaches and has offices in Beverly Hills, Chicago and Atlanta. Among its recent collegiate clients are Penn State, Kansas State, Utah and Mississippi to learn more about Ventura and its people.
Chun is playing the search process close to the proverbial vest. Asked about both Ventura Partners and the broad criteria he’s looking for in a coach, WSU sports information director Bill Stevens told CF.C:
“I spoke with Pat and he does not plan to publicize any details of the search to ensure we are able to attract the best possible candidates. That would include anyone who may be assisting in the search, who may be considered a candidate, and who he plans to meet with, though he said he will consider any and all candidates.”

Clemson women’s basketball coach Amanda Butler has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.
Clemson’s turnaround in Butler’s first year at the helm has been nothing short of remarkable. The Tigers enter the ACC Tournament with an 18-11 overall record and posted nine conference wins – the Tigers’ most since 2002 and one more than the previous five years combined. Butler’s troops are eyeing their first postseason appearance since 2004 (WNIT) or 2002 (NCAA).
